On the 4th, Suncheon City held a final briefing session on the establishment and implementation service of the execution plan for ‘2021 NEXPO in Suncheon,’ scheduled for next year, through a video conference system with about 20 participants including Mayor Heo Seok, related officials, and service providers.
Due to the increasing need for social distancing amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the anticipated transition to a contactless society, the final briefing was conducted via a video conference system instead of face-to-face meetings.
This service was promoted with the goal of concretizing ideas by sector reflecting the current business environment based on the existing basic plan for the expo, recruiting participating companies and buyers, initiating promotional activities, and developing main content that integrates new industry technologies such as AI and 5G with Suncheon City’s representative resources.
At the briefing, Suncheon City presented concepts and content that could serve as an opportunity to establish itself as a leading city in the 4th Industrial Revolution, proposing models that apply AI and 5G-based convergence services to citizens’ daily lives.
Additionally, by enhancing the expectations and understanding of local companies and citizens regarding the ripple effects of the 4th Industrial Revolution and creating a foundation for the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises in related fields, the city identified new industries to secure future growth engines and outlined the direction Suncheon should take.
A Suncheon City official stated, “Based on the execution plan derived from this service, we plan to complete the selection of the event management agency for ‘2021 NEXPO in Suncheon’ by September and proceed with full preparations. We will devise ways to incorporate the Korean New Deal, which is being promoted to secure future growth engines in the post-COVID era, into ‘2021 NEXPO in Suncheon’ and do our best to hold a successful expo.”
