SK Innovation's US Branch Signs Education Agreement with Georgia's 'QuickStart' and 'Lanier Technical College'

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] SK Innovation's subsidiary, SK battery America, has signed an educational agreement with Quick Start and Lanier Technical College in Georgia, USA, related to the creation of over 2,600 new jobs.
Quick Start is an internationally recognized economic development program in Georgia, USA, providing customized free talent development training for new or existing companies within the state.
Located in Commerce City, Jackson County, Georgia, SK battery America occupies approximately 4.5 million ft² (about 126,500 pyeong) and produces electric vehicle batteries for SK Innovation. It plans to create about 2,000 new jobs in Jackson County over five years.
On June 25 (local time), SK Innovation signed an investment agreement worth $940 million (approximately 1.13 trillion KRW) with the Georgia state government to establish a second electric vehicle battery plant. Combined with the employment effect of 2,000 workers at the existing first plant, this will create over 2,600 jobs.
Through the Quick Start program, SK battery America will receive pre-employment testing and job training in key production areas and maintenance, as well as courses for professional development and quality/productivity improvement. For this agreement, Quick Start previously conducted related project research at SK Innovation's Seosan battery plant. This has enabled the provision of instructors necessary for designing/developing educational materials and practical simulations.

The partnership between SK battery America, Quick Start, and Lanier Technical College will continue even after this training program concludes. In particular, Lanier Technical College plans to support SK battery America through ongoing educational programs.
