Pohang City Hosts 'World Famous' Sand Sculpture Exhibition at Yeongildae Beach
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Pohang City, Gyeongbuk, announced on the 5th that it will exhibit sand sculpture works under the theme 'Stay in Pohang' at Yeongildae Beach until the 16th.
The sand sculptures are composed of one main work and two sub-works, inspired by tourist destinations around the world.
The main work is an image where you can appreciate Pohang's 'Sangsaeng's Hand', the United States' 'Statue of Liberty', France's 'Eiffel Tower', and the United Kingdom's 'London Bridge' all at once. In the sub-works, you can view Egypt's representative historical sites 'Pyramid' and 'Sphinx', as well as Russia's 'Saint Basil's Cathedral'. Additionally, there is a work featuring the familiar character 'Donghae Suhodae' for children.
Jo Cheol-ho, head of Pohang City's Marine Industry Division, said, "We hope that the works made from sand, a representative marine resource of Pohang, will provide new attractions for citizens and tourists and serve as an opportunity to revitalize the stagnant local economy."
