Woori Financial Group Publishes '2019 Sustainable Management Report'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] Woori Financial Group announced on the 4th that it has published the "2019 Sustainability Management Report," which contains the sustainability management achievements of the past year.
Woori Financial explained, "As the group system has been successfully established, we published the second report following the first issue last year to actively inform stakeholders of our intention to further expand group-level ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management, including newly incorporated asset management companies, and to share various social responsibility activities."
In this report, Woori Financial Group detailed its support activities related to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Additionally, to actively respond to various ESG issues discussed on a global scale, such as climate change, the group disclosed its newly established five major CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategies linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs): ▲Inclusive Finance ▲Future Generation Development ▲Support for Vulnerable Groups ▲Expansion of Mecenat ▲Environmental Preservation, along with various related activities.
Chairman Sohn Tae-seung stated, "If the financial sector's active sustainability management activities support the 'Green New Deal' and 'Strengthening Safety Nets,' which are core pillars of the recently announced Korean New Deal policy, it will become a competitive model where the government, companies, and citizens together create a sustainable society."
Chairman Sohn also added, "To achieve Woori Financial Group's mission of 'Reliable Finance Together,' we will actively expand the group's sustainability management to contribute to creating a future where the nation, citizens, and customers are all happy."
