LG Chem Promotes Sustainable Social Contribution Activities

LG Chem announced on the 3rd that it will carry out the joint labor-management social contribution activity for a sustainable society, the ‘LG Green Chemi Project.’
First, as part of activities to create a sustainable environment, LG Chem will install eco-friendly green energy facilities such as solar power at social welfare facilities around five business sites: Yeosu, Ochang, Daesan, Iksan, and Onsan, starting in September.
Along with this, waste resource recycling activities will also be conducted. LG Chem's labor and management plan to collect and recycle waste plastics to produce small items and donate them to local communities. In addition, through the operation of Clean-up Week, environmental cleanup activities will be simultaneously carried out in local communities across all business sites.
To raise the necessary funds for this campaign, LG Chem's labor and management decided to introduce a ‘matching grant’ system, where the company will add funds equal to the amount raised by employees.
Kim Sung-min, Executive Vice President and CHO, said, “In line with the company's sustainable growth strategy, labor and management have agreed to focus social contribution activities on creating a better future environment. We will join forces to spread the importance of environmental values in local communities.”

Meanwhile, since early this year, LG Chem's labor and management have jointly carried out activities to overcome COVID-19, such as ‘Employees' Ten Thousand Won Sharing,’ ‘Relay Blood Donation Campaign,’ and ‘Purchasing Local Agricultural and Marine Products.’ Since the 20th, starting with the Ochang business site, the second relay blood donation campaign is being conducted targeting employees at 11 business sites including Yeosu, Daesan, and the Seoul headquarters.
