Jeonnam Province Provides Emergency Welfare Support Fund for Artists
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province (Governor Kim Young-rok) has decided to provide 'emergency welfare support funds' to artists.
On the 31st, Jeonnam Province announced that it will provide emergency welfare support funds to artists in the province who have experienced difficulties in creative activities and livelihoods due to cancellations or postponements of events, performances, and exhibitions caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
A total of 600 million KRW has been secured from contingency funds, providing 500,000 KRW per person.
The recipients are artists who, as of the end of June, have their address in the province and have completed proof of artistic activity with the Korea Arts Welfare Foundation.
However, those enrolled in workplace health insurance, artists affiliated with national or public cultural and artistic institutions, and beneficiaries of emergency employment stabilization support and regional employment response special support projects are excluded.
The support funds will be paid in the first round by August, and considering artists who will receive proof of artistic activity in the second half of this year, another payment is planned in December.
Applications can be submitted by downloading the application form from the Jeonnam Province and local city/county websites and submitting it to the cultural and artistic departments of the city/county, after which payment will be made following review.
Governor Kim Young-rok of Jeonnam Province said, "The cultural and artistic sector is one of the areas most severely impacted by COVID-19, and considering the urgency of the critical situation, we have prepared emergency welfare support funds from the provincial contingency budget," adding, "We will continue to carefully monitor and provide maximum support to prevent the local cultural and artistic community from shrinking."
