Gwangju City Signs Business Agreement with 3 Companies to Establish AI Business Infrastructure

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 31st that it has signed the 23rd to 25th business agreements with AI-attracting companies Vice Co., Ltd., Sandglass Co., Ltd., and Park AI Co., Ltd. to establish a Gwangju-type artificial intelligence business foundation, and will actively cooperate in creating the Gwangju AI ecosystem through each company's headquarters relocation, corporation establishment, and regional office establishment.
Vice Co., Ltd. is a specialized company that performed tasks last year as a technical partner for KT AI Platform, with technological capabilities in big data analysis, mobile app and web, cloud services, mobile payment service development, and AI-based image and voice recognition module applied product development.
Sandglass Co., Ltd. is a specialized company that provides services by developing an excellent AI translation program using big data, offering 35-country language translation through mobile apps and online, especially in specialized translation fields such as technology, patents, and law.
Park AI Co., Ltd. is a specialized company developing autonomous driving and smart parking systems through AI and developing AI industrial platforms. Last July, it was selected as an accelerating partner in the mobility sector by SKT Co., Ltd.
Through this business agreement, Vice Co., Ltd. plans to relocate its headquarters for data analysis platforms, cloud services, and AI-based product development and services; Sandglass Co., Ltd. will establish a Gwangju corporation as an AI and software development company; and Park AI Co., Ltd. will establish a Gwangju corporation and regional office to develop AI-based autonomous driving systems, actively cooperating to create an AI-based ecosystem and new jobs in the Gwangju area.
The main agreement contents include ▲ technical and policy consulting for establishing the Gwangju AI cluster ecosystem and related specialized business platforms ▲ headquarters relocation, establishment of Gwangju corporations and regional offices for nurturing AI talent and creating jobs ▲ development, operation, and promotion of various corporate support programs for AI industry ecosystem creation ▲ planning and promotion of education and employment programs for AI specialized personnel.
Lee Jae-sung, CEO of Park AI Co., Ltd., said, “Through the establishment of the Gwangju corporation currently underway (MOVE AI), we will expand AI-based autonomous driving system services in Gwangju and actively cooperate in promoting full-scale commercialization, creating the Gwangju AI ecosystem, nurturing talent, and creating jobs.”

Mayor Lee Yong-seop stated, “Gwangju, as an AI-centered city, will play a key driving role in South Korea’s New Deal policy,” adding, “We will attract various AI companies through the creation of the Gwangju AI ecosystem and create many new jobs.”
