Amorepacific Foundation Announces Call for Participants in Jangwon Humanities Scholar Support Program
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] The Amorepacific Foundation (Chairman Heetaek Lim) is recruiting participants for the ‘Jangwon Humanities Scholar Support Program,’ which provides research funding to emerging researchers in the humanities field.
Jangwon Seosunghwan, the founder of Amorepacific, established the Amorepacific Foundation in 1973 to broaden and revitalize academic research, including the humanities. The Jangwon Humanities Scholar Support Program is named after the late chairman’s pen name, Jangwon, emphasizing the importance of supporting basic academic disciplines and nurturing talent.
The Amorepacific Foundation plans to actively support the Jangwon Humanities Scholar Support Program to serve as a catalyst for establishing a stable ecosystem in the pure basic academic fields.
This program targets humanities researchers (such as linguistics, literature, history, philosophy, etc.) who have obtained their doctoral degree within the last five years. There is no requirement to produce research outcomes in the form of papers or books; researchers can select their own topics and conduct their research within the designated period.
This is the first private-sector support based solely on the potential of researchers rather than their results. It is meaningful in that it provides an opportunity for researchers to fully contemplate and study the topics they want to pursue during the period when their research motivation is highest.
