KOTRA Expands and Revamps Online Special Zone for COVID-19 Diagnostic Medical Devices
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] KOTRA is stepping up to leverage the globally enhanced recognition of K-quarantine as an opportunity. On the 5th, KOTRA announced that it will expand and reorganize the online special exhibition for COVID-19 diagnostic medical devices in collaboration with the Korea Medical Devices Industry Association and the Korea Pharmaceutical Traders Association.
Since February, KOTRA has been supporting the overseas expansion of Korean diagnostic medical devices through cooperation with overseas diplomatic missions. So far, 615 video consultations have been conducted, resulting in contracts worth 180 million USD.
The online special exhibition for diagnostic and quarantine supplies currently features 101 products from 73 companies, including diagnostic reagents and equipment, nucleic acid extraction reagents and equipment, mobile X-ray and CT devices, walk-through booths, and mobile negative pressure rooms. This time, the scope has been expanded to include items with sufficient domestic supply such as health masks, hand sanitizers, mobile negative pressure devices, and drug infusion pumps.
Company P, participating in the online special exhibition, shared, "After exporting the COVID-19 rapid diagnostic kit to Chile for the first time, we were able to discover additional buyers and expand our trade channels to Pakistan and Kuwait." The online special exhibition runs year-round, and companies wishing to participate can either register their products directly or request KOTRA to register product information on their behalf.
Meanwhile, KOTRA will hold the 'BioHealth Korea' exhibition online this October. A large-scale online exhibition featuring 500 domestic and international companies in the biohealth sector is expected. Cutting-edge exhibition content such as 3D animation and VR technology will also be showcased.
Kwon Pyung-oh, President of KOTRA, stated, "We will actively expand online-based services to flexibly respond to overseas demand for our diagnostic and quarantine supplies."
