Sangju City Starts First Export of Peaches to Southeast Asia in 2020
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] Sangju City, Gyeongsangbuk-do, held a ceremony on the 1st at the Peach Eco-friendly Farming Cooperative packing center to commemorate the first export of Sangju peaches in 2020, attended by Sangju city officials and member farmers.
The first export shipment of Sangju peaches this year weighed about 500kg, and an additional 1 ton is scheduled to be exported this week.
Last year, Sangju exported 160 tons of peaches to Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and other countries, achieving export results worth 800 million KRW.
In particular, Singapore is a market showing high export potential in Southeast Asia and imports many overseas agricultural products. Amid the Korean Wave craze, Korean agricultural products are loved by locals, and especially the juicy and sweet Sangju peaches are sought after by consumers every year.
