Yeosu·Gwangyang Port Wins 'International Port Association Sustainability Growth Award'
The Only Domestic Port Selected for Community Contribution and Port City Cooperation Sections
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik, hereinafter referred to as the Authority) announced on the 25th that Yeosu·Gwangyang Port won an award in the ‘2020 IAPH Sustainability Growth Award’ selected by the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH).
The ‘IAPH Sustainability Growth Award’ selects winners and awardees from 18 ports worldwide each year through a fair evaluation (30% online, 70% judging panel) across a total of five categories.
The five categories are ▲Port Infrastructure ▲Climate Change ▲Community Contribution and Port City Cooperation ▲Safety and Security ▲Port Governance.
Yeosu·Gwangyang Port earned the honor of being the only domestic port to win in the ‘Community Contribution and Port City Cooperation’ category.
This year, a total of 120 global ports, including the Port of Singapore Authority, applied, showing a high competition rate of 6.7 to 1, the Authority explained.

An official from the Authority said, “Our efforts to lead the development of port cities in port areas and to realize social value were highly evaluated, resulting in this award,” and added, “We will continue to be a public institution that takes the lead in community contribution.”
