Original Plan Committee Chair Inspects Radiation Transmission Work Site at Shipyard
Visit to Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering... Confirming Safety Management of Ordering and Working Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] On the 25th, Eom Jaesik, Chairman of the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, visited Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in Geoje to inspect the radiographic testing operations for ships and offshore plants.
Chairman Eom reviewed the safety management status at the outdoor radiographic testing site for large inspection objects such as ships, as well as the fulfillment of safety obligations by the ordering companies.
He urged related businesses to maintain continuous interest and efforts for the safe use of radiation.
Since 2015, the NSSC has required ordering companies to provide a safe working environment, including radiation shielding facilities, and to report daily work volumes to protect radiographic testing workers.
In the shipbuilding sector, radiographic testing is conducted in high and narrow spaces inside the ships under construction. Therefore, the ordering companies' comprehensive safety measures are inevitably important.
