Gwangju Seo-gu Launches 'Solitary Death Prevention Officers'... Conducting Activities to Identify Welfare Blind Spots
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Seo Daeseok) announced on the 22nd that it held a launch ceremony for the Solitary Death Prevention Officers on the 19th and conducted training for the officers.
Seo-gu was selected in March through a public contest by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to promote the solitary death prevention project "People are Hope, Neighbors are Happiness," and recruited 108 solitary death prevention officers last month.
This recruitment saw a final application of 191 people, showing continued support from volunteers willing to care for neighbors in need despite the challenges posed by COVID-19.
At the event, following the launch ceremony for the selected solitary death prevention officers, practical training focused on fieldwork was conducted, including how to identify high-risk signs and how to conduct counseling.
The solitary death prevention officers are scheduled to actively carry out activities to identify welfare blind spots targeting high-risk single-person households in the district until the end of the year.
