People Party: "North Korea's demolition of liaison office... an irrational outrage"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] On the 16th, the People’s Party condemned North Korea’s demolition of the Kaesong Inter-Korean Joint Liaison Office, stating, “We condemn North Korea’s destruction of the Kaesong Joint Liaison Office, which goes against the common sense and norms of civilized nations.”
On the same day, Ahn Hye-jin, spokesperson for the People’s Party, said in a statement, “This is an irrational act of violence that rejects all dialogue and compromise,” adding, “Such actions not only lead to an irreparable breakdown in relations with South Korea but also represent a deeply regrettable act of voluntarily forfeiting its qualifications as a member of the international community.”
Spokesperson Ahn stated, “North Korea’s extreme and irrational behavior is a self-abandonment of efforts to become a normal state within the international community,” and warned, “It will result in a self-contradictory outcome of further isolation.”

Ahn questioned, “How long must the people of the Republic of Korea live in fear of the violent and barbaric acts of an abnormal state north of the 38th parallel?” and added, “In the face of situations like today, we cannot help but ask whether the South Korean government will continue to cling to naive dialogue and weak compromises, unable to let go of its lingering hopes for North Korea.”
