POSCO 1% Nanum Foundation Provides Equipment Support to Disabled Athletes in Gwangyang
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation is launching a new project called 'Hope Dream' to provide customized assistive devices and equipment to disabled athletes in the Pohang and Gwangyang regions.
The Hope Dream project is a program that supports the dreams of disabled athletes by providing customized equipment for team sports such as wheelchairs for competition, Hangung, Shulryeon, and Lawn Bowls to professional disabled athletes who strive to achieve good results despite harsh conditions, and discovers outstanding athletes.
This project was organized as an individual program to expand support for disabled athletes, following the success of disabled athletes who received competition equipment through the 'Hope Wings' project started in 2019, achieving excellent results such as setting new Korean records at the National Disabled Sports Festival.
Applications for 'Hope Dream' are open from June 15 to June 26. Applicants can download the application form from the POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation website, fill it out, and submit it via email (nanum@poscofoundation.org). Final recipients will be selected through document screening and on-site inspections.

Meanwhile, established in 2013, the POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation has focused on supporting future generations, disabled people, and multicultural fields with funds raised from employee donations and company matching grants under the vision of '1% Sharing for a Better World,' carrying out various social contribution activities. Especially this year, marking the 70th anniversary of the Korean War, the foundation is newly promoting meaningful projects such as providing advanced assistive devices to national veterans and popularizing disabled artists.
