Korea National Oil Corporation, Joint Public-Private Inspection for National Safety Diagnosis

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Korea National Oil Corporation announced on the 15th that it conducted a 2020 National Safety Inspection joint public-private check at the Pyeongtaek Oil Storage Base in Gyeonggi-do.
The government conducts the National Safety Inspection annually with the aim of establishing a permanent safety management system. This year as well, it is carried out as a government-wide joint inspection involving the government, public institutions, and private experts. In particular, the expertise and effectiveness of the National Safety Inspection were enhanced by focusing on safety inspections of facilities vulnerable to major accidents such as logistics warehouse fires.
Yang Soo-young, President of Korea National Oil Corporation, personally visited the Pyeongtaek storage base on the first day of the National Safety Inspection conducted by the Oil Corporation, inspecting major facilities such as oil storage tanks, LPG pipelines, and truck shipping platforms, as well as the on-site safety management system to prepare for disasters.
President Yang said, “In a situation where public fatigue is high due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, even minor carelessness can lead to safety accidents, so we must always remain vigilant,” and added, “Please do your best to ensure workplace safety through continuous safety inspections and facility management.”

Korea National Oil Corporation and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plan to conduct intensive safety inspections of nine oil storage bases and major facilities of the corporation, including gas field operation offices, from the Pyeongtaek Oil Storage Base joint public-private safety inspection starting on this day until the 3rd of next month.
