Muju-gun, Inspection of Growth for Protected and Old Trees Including Nutina-mu
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Go Dallyeong] Muju-gun, Jeonbuk, is inspecting the growth status of rare trees planted in village halls and villages. On the 15th, Muju-gun announced that from the 15th to the 30th, it will conduct an inspection of the growth status and management conditions of 56 designated and managed protected trees at 48 sites and 103 old trees at 54 sites.
This inspection, conducted in accordance with the joint investigation period for protected trees in Jeonbuk Province, plans to focus on checking the vitality, damage, pest and disease damage, and tree injury of protected trees and old trees.
Protected trees are old trees, large trees, rare trees, etc., with historical or academic value, which require special protection, designated and announced by the mayor or provincial governor or the local forest office chief according to Article 13 of the Forest Protection Act.
Zelkova trees, pine trees, willow trees, and others fall under this category. Protected trees are managed by Jeonbuk Province, while old trees are managed and protected by Muju-gun. So far, maintenance projects (such as surgical treatment, pruning of dead or weakened branches, thinning of the canopy, installation of supports, etc.) have been carried out on 36 trees at 9 sites of protected and old trees.
