Jang Young-su, Jangsu County Governor, Makes Every Effort to Secure National Budget for Forestry in 2021
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Go Dallyoung] Jang Youngsoo, the governor of Jangsu County, is making every effort to secure the 2021 national budget for the forestry sector.
On the 15th, Governor Jang Youngsoo visited the Korea Forest Service and met with Park Jongho, the Commissioner of the Korea Forest Service, to actively advocate for the necessity of three major forestry projects (341 billion KRW) to be secured in 2021.
Governor Jang Youngsoo requested the passage of the amendment to the Mountainous Area Management Act within this year to include “gardens” in forest public facilities, so that the long-awaited project in Jangsu County, the Baekdudaegan Yuksiryeong Mountain Garden Development Project, can be promoted as a new project in 2021. He also asked for the Korea Forest Service’s active cooperation to designate Jangansan, one of the eight major mountains of Baekdudaegan, as a Ecological and Scenic Conservation Area.
In particular, Governor Jang actively explained the justification and necessity for the Forest New Variety Industrial Complex Development Project, a 300 billion KRW government project newly discovered in 2021 to support individual breeders and seedling producers industrially, to be reflected in the national plan and established in Jangsu County.
Governor Jang Youngsoo said, “Our county is a representative mountainous area in Korea with 75% forestland, but except for Banghwa-dong and Waryong Recreation Forests, representative forest tourism resources are weak,” and added, “I hope that the county administration’s capabilities will be united to discover new forestry projects and secure the national budget.”
