This agreement was proposed by the Busan Chamber of Commerce to support export revitalization for local companies whose exports have sharply declined due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and was accepted by the Busan Port Authority, making it successful.
Through the agreement, both organizations decided to carry out support projects to activate exports and imports of Busan companies and enhance global competitiveness when entering overseas markets. They also agreed to strengthen cooperation in various areas, including expanding the international logistics network of local companies centered on Busan Port.
The Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Busan Port Authority decided to focus on promoting the "2020 Busan Port Untact Overseas Market Development Support Project" based on this agreement.
The "2020 Busan Port Untact Overseas Market Development Support Project" provides necessary support at each stage such as export preparation, buyer discovery, and contract progress for small and medium-sized enterprises in Busan and Gyeongnam that have used Busan Port when entering overseas markets.
The main individual projects are conducted on an untact (contactless) basis to resolve difficulties faced by companies due to COVID-19, including overseas branch support where local trade offices act on behalf of exporting companies' overseas operations, online marketing projects to discover overseas buyers, and overseas buyer credit investigations.
In addition, seminars providing ASEAN regional marketing strategies to companies in line with the government's New Southern Policy will be jointly held.
A representative of the Busan Chamber of Commerce said, "We hope this agreement will provide practical help to local companies whose exports have come to a standstill due to COVID-19 and increase exports through Busan Port," adding, "The Busan Chamber of Commerce will continue to closely cooperate with the Busan Port Authority to support local companies in pioneering export routes and resolving difficulties."
