Jongno-gu Implements 'Resident Life-Oriented' Organizational Restructuring... Establishes Air Quality Management Team and Innovation Education Team
Establishment of 'Air Quality Management Team' Dedicated to Comprehensive Measures on Fine Dust... Creation of 'Innovation Education Team' to Provide Solid Educational Environment for Children and Adolescents and Promote Lifelong Education
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jongno-gu (District Mayor Kim Young-jong) will implement an organizational restructuring effective July 1 to enhance work efficiency and accelerate the promotion of key projects for the remaining term of the 7th local government in response to changes in the administrative environment.
The three newly established teams through this restructuring are ▲Air Quality Management Team (Environment Division) ▲Innovative Education Team (Education Division) ▲Distribution Guidance Team (Job Economy Division).
To improve efficiency through task reassignment, the existing Green Energy Team will be renamed the Climate Change Response Team (Environment Division), and the Living Environment Team will be renamed the Environmental Conservation Team (Environment Division).
Additionally, as the one-year term as the chair district for the 2nd year of the 7th local government of the Seoul Metropolitan Council of District Mayors concludes, the Council Operation Team (Planning and Budget Division) will be abolished.
Since 2010, Jongno-gu has continuously worked to create a breathable community by anticipating the risks of fine dust based on the geographical characteristics of Jongno located in the city center. Representative examples include emission reduction policies and strengthening vehicle speed limits in Jongno.
However, as factors harmful to residents' health have diversified beyond fine dust to include ultrafine dust, the need for a dedicated organization capable of establishing and implementing comprehensive measures related to air quality has emerged.
Accordingly, the 'Air Quality Management Team' will be newly established to reorganize related tasks and focus on creating a sustainable, environmentally friendly city.
Furthermore, based on the successful promotion capabilities of specialized library projects and lifelong education projects, which laid the foundation for achieving 2nd place in the '2020 National Local Government Administrative Evaluation,' the 'Innovative Education Team' will be established, and the Jongno Innovative Education Support Center will be installed and operated. This aims to provide a solid educational environment for children and youth and expand learning opportunities for local residents.
