Mata: "Being part of Man Utd is unique... feels like I'm in a dream"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] Juan Mata (32) expressed pride in being a Manchester United (Man Utd) player.
Mata recently appeared in the documentary "Living Abroad" and said, "Being part of Man Utd gives a unique and special feeling. When I wake up in the morning, sometimes it still feels like I'm in a dream."
He added, "It's unbelievable to play at the place where players like Eric Cantona, George Best, David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, and Paul Scholes played," and said, "I belong to the team where the players I watched since I was young played. I am very proud."
Mata joined the English Premier League team Chelsea ahead of the 2011-2012 season opener and recorded 32 goals and 58 assists in a total of 135 matches.
He then transferred from Chelsea to Man Utd in January 2014 for a transfer fee of 37 million pounds (approximately 56 billion won).
Since moving to Man Utd, Mata has played 249 matches over six seasons, scoring 48 goals and providing 42 assists.
