50-Year-Old Man Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison for Assault Causing Blindness to Foreign Worker
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] A man in his 50s who assaulted a foreigner in his 30s, causing him to lose his eyesight, after the victim suddenly quit his job, was sentenced to two years in prison.
The Jeju District Court's 2nd Criminal Division (Chief Judge Jang Chan-su) announced on the 5th that it sentenced A (51), who was charged with serious injury, to two years in prison.
The court stated the reason for the sentence, saying, "Despite the defendant's crime causing the victim to suffer a serious injury resulting in the loss of vision in his left eye, sufficient recovery for the victim has not been achieved."
A was charged with assaulting foreign worker B (32) at a motel located in Hallim-eup, Jeju City, on the afternoon of April 8 last year.
B was reported to have been seriously injured, including losing vision in his left eye, due to A's assault.
