Jindo-gun Prepares Thoroughly for Post-Corona Era
All-Out Effort to Revive the Economy by Sector to Overcome COVID-19 Damage

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will set goals by sector and implement customized policies for residents to induce regional economic revitalization through proactive policy responses in the post-COVID-19 era.
On the 3rd, the county held a briefing session at the county office meeting room to prepare for the post-COVID-19 era by promoting investment projects, creating value in agriculture, fisheries, and marine products, and generating customized jobs to minimize regional economic stagnation and economic damage through "concretization of financial management strategies and proactive and active financial investment."
Through this briefing session, the county plans to promote sector-specific initiatives such as enhancing the competitiveness of the main agricultural and fisheries industries, balanced regional development, improvement of living environments, expansion of social safety nets, establishment of living SOC, and construction of cultural and tourism infrastructure.
In particular, it plans to rapidly promote 55 projects in five areas including regional economy, investment attraction and job creation, cultural and tourism revitalization, housing and living improvement, and safety culture and health welfare promotion, laying the foundation for regional economic revitalization.
The county will implement step-by-step measures such as operating direct sales stores for agricultural and marine specialty products in large cities, revitalizing the commercial district of Jindo-eup, attracting population based on safe and clean Jindo, planning intangible heritage performances, promptly promoting port development corporation projects, and expanding medical support services.
A post-COVID-19 response task force team, led by the vice county governor, has been formed to proactively respond to policies by identifying the progress and issues of policy implementation in advance and inducing tangible outcomes.
Five subcommittee meetings will be held regularly to promote activation projects for stimulating local consumption and domestic demand, aiming to overcome the depressed regional economy together with residents.
By the end of May, Jindo-gun invested a total of 20.7 billion KRW, including 6.7 billion KRW of county funds, to provide support such as public utility fees for small business owners, livelihood stabilization for taxi, bus, and freight drivers, public interest subsidies for farmers and fishermen, and emergency disaster relief funds.

Lee Dong-jin, Jindo-gun governor, said, "We will continue to prioritize policies to support small business owners and farmers and revitalize local neighborhood markets to wisely overcome the economy depressed by COVID-19," adding, "Through proactive and active financial management, we plan to implement policies that residents can feel, such as expanding income bases for vulnerable groups and promptly and fully promoting development projects."
