Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 1st that the 'Yuyu Jajok (悠悠自足) City' proposed by the Geumseong Comprehensive Architectural Office consortium was selected as the best work in the urban basic concept and three-dimensional urban space planning competition for Namyangju Wangsuok 2 District.
Namyangju Wangsuok 2 District will be developed on a scale of 2.45 million square meters in the Ilpae and Ipae neighborhoods of Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, with 12,700 housing units. This competition was held to establish a three-dimensional (3D) master plan encompassing architecture and facilities from the urban planning stage and to base urban and architectural plans on it.
The 'Yuyu Jajok City' proposed a low-density untact (contactless) city and an eco-friendly city utilizing hills and streams. It specialized Gyeongchun-ro within the district as a walkable street and presented a three-dimensional spatial plan where residential, transportation, and cultural facilities coexist centered around the newly established station on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line.
The winning team of the best work will prepare the district plan within the year as the master planner in the field of urban design, collaborating with master planners from other fields such as transportation, environment, and culture.
