Dangsa Hang, Eomul Hang, Jujeon Hang Fishing Village New Deal Project Begins, Completion Scheduled for Next Year
Ulsan City Hall. Ulsan City is embarking on a fishing village renewal project to transform Dangsa Hang in Buk-gu, Eomul Hang, and Jujeon Hang in Dong-gu into urban-style fishing villages.

On the 22nd, Ulsan City announced that it has decided to develop Dangsa Hang and Eomul Hang in Buk-gu, and Jujeon Hang in Dong-gu into urban-type fishing villages and fishing ports.
The Ulsan version of the '2020 Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project,' which modernizes existing fishing village facilities in connection with marine scenic resources and transforms Jujeon Hang and the nearby coast in Dong-gu into attractive waterfront spaces, is being actively implemented.
The Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project is a national project promoted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to improve fishing village environments. In Ulsan, three sites?Dangsa Hang and Eomul Hang in Buk-gu, and Jujeon Hang in Dong-gu?were selected as project sites.
On the 19th, a project commencement briefing was held at the Dangsa Village Hall for Dangsa Hang, and on the 21st, at the Jujeon Fishing Village Experience Center for Eomul Hang, attended by officials from Ulsan City and district offices, Korea Rural Community Corporation representatives, and fishing village residents.
By next year, a total project cost of 34.1 billion KRW will be invested to carry out various projects aimed at discovering differentiated content unique to fishing villages and integrated development of fishing villages and ports, transforming the fishing villages.
For Dangsa Hang and Eomul Hang, a total of 14.1 billion KRW will be invested in constructing detached breakwaters and reinforcing safety facilities of breakwaters to prepare for large waves, as well as in access roads, parking facilities, marine fishing park landscape specialization works, and marine leisure facility development.
In Dong-gu’s Jujeon Hang, with a total budget of 10 billion KRW, a new breakwater will be constructed, a quay will be installed, the Haepalang-gil scenic route will be redesigned, and a children's water playground will be built.

An official from Ulsan City said, “The fishing ports and villages of Ulsan, backed by a metropolitan urban area, will reveal a new face through the Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project,” adding, “We expect it to play a major role in revitalizing Ulsan’s marine tourism and leading the innovative growth of fishing villages.”
