Gwangju Dong-gu Selected for Life-Integrated Smart Technology Support Project
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 21st that it has been finally selected as a target for the "Living-Oriented Urban Regeneration Smart Technology Support Project" hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The selected project is to create a "Fire Safety Village" by establishing a smart fire alarm service within the Dongmyeong-dong Urban Regeneration New Deal project area. A total project cost of 1 billion KRW will be invested, and the project will be carried out for one year starting next month.
The smart fire alarm service installs wireless detection sensors capable of detecting flames, smoke, and heat in stores or homes. In case of fire, it promptly notifies residents and the fire station, enabling early fire suppression.
The Dongmyeong-dong Urban Regeneration New Deal project area is densely packed with Namujeon Street and old buildings, making it a region with a high risk of large-scale fires in the event of a fire. However, with the introduction of this smart technology project, it is expected that residents' property and life damage caused by fire will be reduced.
Dong-gu plans to maximize residents' perception of urban regeneration projects by linking the selected smart technology support project with the ongoing repair support project this year to improve residential conditions.
