Lotte Holdings announced on the 21st that Vice Chairman Hwang visited the construction site of the Lotte Global Logistics courier mega hub terminal in Jincheon, Chungbuk, on the 20th and received a report on the progress of the construction.
The courier mega hub terminal being built by Lotte Global Logistics in the Chopyeong Eunam Industrial Complex, Jincheon-gun, Chungbuk, is planned to be constructed on a 145,000㎡ site with a total floor area of 184,000㎡ and three above-ground floors. Benchmarking advanced overseas courier terminals, it is planned to be established as a next-generation courier terminal based on DT (Digital Transformation) incorporating cutting-edge technologies such as AI.
Scheduled for completion in 2022, the terminal will be capable of handling 1.5 million boxes per day upon completion. Lotte is investing approximately 300 billion KRW in the construction of this terminal.
Lotte expects to significantly strengthen its courier competitiveness and enhance customer service sophistication through the construction of the Jincheon mega hub terminal. In particular, it plans to provide optimized logistics services that connect the state-of-the-art warehouse facilities to the courier terminal in a one-stop manner, making it a core base for Lotte’s e-commerce business.
With the rapid increase in untact (contactless) consumption due to the impact of COVID-19, the ongoing restructuring of distribution centered on e-commerce is expected to accelerate further. Not only the distribution industry but all consumer goods businesses are anticipated to compete to provide faster and more convenient delivery services to customers.
At the site, Vice Chairman Hwang said, “As people reduce outdoor activities and start shopping online more actively due to COVID-19, the importance of courier hubs is increasingly emphasized,” and added, “The Jincheon courier mega hub terminal is a project that started at the right time, so I hope the construction is completed safely with the highest priority on safety and becomes a model center for new group businesses.”
