LG HelloVision Launches VOD Revenue Donation Campaign for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LG HelloVision announced on the 21st that it will conduct a 'Sharing VOD Campaign' where donations can be made simply by watching video on demand (VOD) in celebration of Deaf Persons' Day on June 3rd. When purchasing VOD through HelloTV's 'Deaf Persons' Day VOD Special Section,' all proceeds will be donated to activities aimed at improving broadcasting accessibility for people with disabilities.
LG HelloVision will operate two special VOD sections on HelloTV from the 22nd to the 31st. The Deaf Persons' Day Special Section offers 20 popular domestic and international films themed around the lives of people with disabilities, including "My Special Brother," "Witness," "Keys to the Heart," and "Me Before You." The Barrier-Free Section (Gachibom Section) gathers 115 barrier-free films that include subtitles and audio descriptions for the hearing and visually impaired.
HelloTV customers can participate in the donation by purchasing VOD. To encourage participation in the campaign, LG HelloVision also offers a benefit of returning 50% of the special section VOD purchase amount as HelloTV coins. The donations will be delivered to branches under the Korea Association of the Deaf and used for the distribution of 'Smart Sign Language Broadcasting.' Smart Sign Language Broadcasting is a service that allows users to freely adjust the position and size of sign language broadcasting on their TV screen.
Lee Su-jin, head of LG HelloVision's CSR team, said, "To commemorate Deaf Persons' Day, we have prepared a meaningful sharing campaign for broadcasting and communication marginalized groups as a broadcasting and communication service provider," and added, "We ask for much interest in this campaign where donations can be made simply by purchasing VOD."
