Recently, LG Electronics changed the ‘Prior Notice of Hot Work’ system to the ‘Mandatory Prior Report of Hot Work’ system to help partners prevent fire accidents. This measure aims to strengthen the safety of its partners.
This system requires partners to report to LG Electronics before performing any hot work such as welding or cutting.
To this end, LG Electronics provided partners with a pre-checklist to assess safety conditions before the scheduled work. On-site, preventive covers to block sparks, firefighting equipment, and LG Electronics’ specialized personnel are deployed to support hot work and ensure safe completion of tasks.
Since 2015, LG Electronics has been visiting partners annually to thoroughly inspect their workplaces for fire or safety hazards. The inspections are conducted across six areas: firefighting, safety, electrical, chemical substances, and others.
The inspection targets include ▲management status of electrical outlets, fire extinguishers, and fire hydrants ▲overload and overcurrent detection using thermal imaging cameras ▲gas leak detection ▲status of safety devices on equipment ▲fire spread prevention devices such as sprinklers, firewalls, and emergency evacuation routes.
Based on the inspection results, LG Electronics shares risk factors and improvement know-how with partners and supports them to improve up to the target level. During periods with frequent fire incidents, special inspections are conducted focusing on major causes such as the use of electric heaters and static electricity generation, thoroughly addressing issues to help partners produce safely.
In particular, LG Electronics visits the production sites of high-risk partners performing processes with very high accident risks every two months for focused inspections.
Additionally, LG Electronics distributes daily inspection sheets for partners to voluntarily check on-site risk factors and encourages daily management. Offline training sessions are held twice a year to enhance fire and safety management capabilities.
Partners can secure safety and improve work efficiency by using the fire safety management system established by LG Electronics.
