Gwangju City, Special Traffic Measures for the May 18 Democratic Movement Commemoration Event
On the 18th, 19 city bus routes detour via Geumnam-ro near the event venue
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City is implementing special traffic measures to facilitate transportation for participants visiting Geumnam-ro 5·18 Democracy Square, where the 40th anniversary of the May 18 Democratic Movement commemorative event will be held, and the National May 18 Democratic Cemetery.
According to Gwangju City on the 13th, in preparation for the temporary concentration of vehicles near Geumnam-ro 5·18 Democracy Square, where the May 18 Democratic Movement commemorative ceremony will take place, 19 city bus routes passing through 5·18 Democracy Square will be rerouted from Geumnam 4-way intersection from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM on the 18th to ensure smooth event progress and vehicle traffic flow.
Additionally, from the 17th to the 18th, bus number 518 operating toward the National May 18 Democratic Cemetery will increase its service by 88 trips from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The monthly route 06 bus, which usually operates up to Jangdeung-dong, will extend its route to the park cemetery from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and increase service by 18 trips, resulting in a total of 394 bus trips to the National May 18 Democratic Cemetery.
Furthermore, on the 18th, about 70 traffic control personnel from the city, autonomous districts, and the Model Drivers Association, along with guide vehicles and traffic police, will be deployed around 5·18 Democracy Square and the National May 18 Democratic Cemetery to maintain traffic flow and order.
