Haenam-gun Supports 80% of Rice Crop Disaster Insurance Premiums
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 11th that it will support rice disaster insurance premiums to prepare for natural disaster risks such as typhoons and pests.
To expand crop disaster insurance such as rice this year, farmers only need to pay 20% of the insurance premium, and the remaining 80% will be supported by the government and local governments.
Eligible applicants are farmers or agricultural-related corporations registered as agricultural management entities cultivating rice, and they can enroll at local agricultural cooperatives from the 11th until the 26th of next month.
Rice disaster insurance covers natural disasters such as typhoons, strong winds, heavy rain, damage caused by wild animals, and losses due to fire as the main contract.
In particular, through special contracts, damage from pests and diseases such as rice blast, brown planthopper, and rice blast disease (pests and diseases are not covered for forage rice) is also broadly compensated.
