One Officer in the Army Direct Unit Infected with COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] One soldier who came into contact with a sergeant who visited the 'Itaewon Club' has tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Separately, one officer from an Army direct command unit has also been infected with COVID-19.
According to the Ministry of National Defense on the 9th, one soldier who came into contact with Sergeant A, a confirmed COVID-19 case belonging to the Cyber Operations Command under the Ministry of National Defense, tested positive.
Sergeant A violated Ministry of National Defense guidelines and visited the Itaewon Club in Yongsan-gu, which was visited by the 'Yongin patient number 66,' in the early morning of the 2nd.
After returning to the barracks, he went to a PC room that evening and reported to work normally on the 4th. On the same day, he visited a bar in Yongsan-gu, and despite showing symptoms, he reported to work normally on the 6th.
The soldier who tested positive is serving in the same unit, Cyber Command, as Sergeant A and is currently under quarantine.
Earlier, the Ministry of National Defense conducted polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests on 103 soldiers whose movements overlapped with Sergeant A. Among them, one soldier tested positive, and 102 tested negative.
One officer from an Army direct command unit in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, has also been infected with COVID-19. The military is currently tracing this officer's movements to identify close contacts.

Meanwhile, as of 10 a.m. on the same day, there are two additional confirmed COVID-19 cases within the military, bringing the total cumulative number to 42. Among them, 39 have recovered, and the remaining three are receiving treatment.
