Korea-Greece Foreign Ministers' Call... Korea Requests Cooperation for Importing Korean Quarantine Supplies
Minister Dendias "Grateful for Mask Support to Korean War Veterans"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the afternoon of the 8th, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha held a phone call at the request of Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and exchanged opinions on cooperation measures related to the response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Minister Dendias first praised Korea for successfully conducting the general election despite the COVID-19 situation, describing it as very impressive. In response, Minister Kang expressed her pleasure that the general election was successfully held with a high voter turnout thanks to the high civic awareness of the people and the government's thorough quarantine measures, and that there was no increase in confirmed cases due to people's movement during the election process.
Both ministers welcomed the close cooperation between the two countries through the export of Korean-made COVID-19 diagnostic kits to Greece. In particular, Minister Dendias requested Korea's cooperation if additional imports of diagnostic kits and other quarantine supplies become necessary in the future, and Minister Kang agreed to actively consider this while taking domestic demand into account.
Furthermore, Minister Kang stated that, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Korean War this year, she deeply appreciates the Greek veterans and hopes that the mask support planned by the Korean government for veterans and their bereaved families will serve as a small token of gratitude.
