Mayor Kim stated, "The reason COVID-19 has gradually stabilized is because we all worked together," expressing his determination to overcome the crisis with the residents.
He added, "Now is the time to actively support and encourage the revitalization of the depressed local economy and small business owners facing difficulties."
Previously, Mayor Kim had returned 50% of his business promotion expenses to encourage the efforts of workers and volunteers involved in quarantine and prevention related to emergency COVID-19 duties.
Additionally, as a member of the public sharing social pain due to the spread of COVID-19 in March, he will donate 30% of his salary for four months from April to July.
Accordingly, public officials at grade 5 and above have also voluntarily decided to participate in donating emergency disaster relief funds to overcome the COVID-19 crisis.
From April 13 to 30, a "Special Employee Fundraising for Overcoming COVID-19" was held, with about 840 employees, including those in affiliated organizations, voluntarily participating in donations. The total amount collected was 36,422,000 KRW, which will be delivered to the Gwangjin Welfare Foundation according to employees' wishes to help neighbors in the local community facing difficulties. The funds will be used to purchase items for COVID-19 prevention and damage support.
