The inauguration ritual is a Confucian ceremony in which the state or individuals report significant events to ancestral shrines or deities before or after the event. Since ancient times, newly appointed local governors have held memorial rites for sages at Hyanggyo.
Jeongyo Son Seokgi said, “I sincerely congratulate Governor Jeon Chunsung on his election and consider it an honor to hold the inauguration ritual at Jinan Hyanggyo today. I ask for more interest and affection toward Hyanggyo in the future.”
