'Real Estate Allegations' Yang Jeong-suk Countersues Citizen Party... "Will Prove Innocence to Investigative Agencies"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Yang Jeongsuk, a proportional representative-elect who was expelled from the Deobureo Citizen Party amid controversies including real estate-related allegations, stated on the 6th, "I will correct the distorted information through investigations by law enforcement agencies and prove my innocence." She filed a criminal complaint against the Citizen Party, raising the possibility of intentional leakage of personal information during the reporting process of the real estate controversy.
Yang released a statement on the same day, saying, "Much of the accusations made against me and the KBS reports are different from the facts."
She continued, "I have paid related taxes such as gift tax and inheritance tax according to laws and regulations, so there is no violation of the Real Name Real Estate Act," and added, "Also, I reported all assets at the time of registration in the candidate's asset declaration, so there is no room for violation of the Election Act."
She further stated, "Immediately after the initial KBS report before the election, I sufficiently and sincerely clarified the facts by submitting documents proving the payment of gift tax and inheritance tax showing no violation of the Real Name Real Estate Act to the Citizen Party."
Yang also raised the possibility of intentional leakage of personal information by the Citizen Party. She said, "There is circumstantial evidence that the Citizen Party leaked recordings and documents containing personal information of me and my siblings to KBS, enabling the 'real estate controversy report,'" adding, "This is an unjust act that forgets the duty of a public party. I have filed criminal complaints against the Citizen Party and KBS for unauthorized leakage of personal information."
Yang expressed, "I once again apologize to the Democratic Party," and said, "I will strive to prove my innocence through investigations by law enforcement agencies to alleviate some of the concerns caused to the public and the Democratic Party."

Meanwhile, earlier that day, the Democratic Party and the Citizen Party filed a complaint with the prosecution against Yang for violations of the Public Official Election Act, including false reporting such as underreporting of assets. The two parties said, "It is very embarrassing to file a criminal complaint against a candidate elected by the party," and added, "We recognized Yang's allegations and repeatedly recommended voluntary resignation, but she has consistently shown a regrettable attitude. We hope the truth will be revealed through strict investigation by judicial authorities."
