Gwangju Seo-gu Council Members Join 'Emergency Disaster Relief Fund Donation' Initiative
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Seo-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 6th that its members have joined the 'Emergency Disaster Relief Fund Donation' campaign.
The initiative was promoted with the intention of encouraging Seo-gu Council members to take the lead in sharing and supporting the community, to share the pain of citizens struggling due to COVID-19 and to revitalize the stagnant local economy.
The eight council members who participated in the donation are Kang Gi-seok, Kim Tae-young, Kim Young-sun, Kim Ok-su, Go Kyung-ae, Yoon Jeong-min, Kang In-taek, and Park Young-sook.
Other council members have expressed their intention to donate through various other means.
Kang Gi-seok, Chairman of the Seo-gu Council, said, "The local economy has been greatly depressed due to COVID-19, and I appreciate that our district council members have proactively participated in the donation. Although it is not a large amount, I hope it can be a small help to those who are having a harder time."

Meanwhile, if the government’s emergency disaster relief fund is not applied for within three months from the start date of the application, it is considered an 'automatic donation.' Applicants can also express their intention to donate during the application process for the emergency disaster relief fund.
