Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, Hosts 'Guerrilla Gardening' Event with Youth
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Samho) announced on the 6th that it held a 'Guerrilla Gardening' event planting flowers throughout the village together with youth at the Wolgok-dong Youth Culture House 'Yaho Center.'
Guerrilla gardening is an activity of cultivating small gardens by planting flowers and plants in urban leftover spaces or neglected areas under the slogan of 'a revolution to make the city green.'
The district organized this event to stabilize youth whose activity range has shrunk and who have been psychologically restrained due to COVID-19.
Youth participants toured the Wolgok-dong area where the Yaho Center is located, cleaning and planting flowers to refresh the village.

A Yaho Center official stated, "We will expand this event into an eco-friendly and ecological education and activity space where youth can cultivate the village themselves by linking it with the volunteer program 'Sangsangballoon' and the art garden project 'Il+Life.'"
