Cheong Wa Dae: "There is absolutely no possibility of a cabinet reshuffle next month" (Update)
Cheong Wa Dae Denies Mid-June Cabinet Reshuffle Rumors: "Explained to Prevent Negative Impact on Public Service if Assumed as Fact"
[Asia Economy Reporters Ryu Jeong-min and Son Seon-hee] The Blue House stated that there is "absolutely no possibility" of a moderate cabinet reshuffle taking place as early as June, in response to some media reports suggesting such a move.
A senior Blue House official, speaking to reporters on the afternoon of the 6th, said, "(The idea that the Blue House reorganization will not happen) is the same. I heard that there were not many concrete confirmations saying 'no' about the reshuffle, but the reports went as far as stating that the reshuffle would definitely take place. If it becomes accepted as a given fact, it could have a negative impact on the public service, so we are explaining this."
The Blue House immediately denied media reports claiming that a moderate reshuffle including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defense was being prepared, and that a 'breakthrough-type reshuffle' was underway, launching an urgent damage control effort.
Regarding this, Blue House spokesperson Kang Min-seok said, "Some media outlets reported as a side top story that a moderate reshuffle including the Minister of National Defense is likely next month. They even drew a very specific reshuffle plan, calling it the 'breakthrough-type 3rd term,' focusing on a shake-up in foreign affairs and security this time." He added, "In conclusion, President Moon Jae-in is not considering a reshuffle at all at this time."

When asked if there is a possibility of consideration in the future, a senior Blue House official explained, "Please do not focus on the present; you should understand that the emphasis is on the fact that it is not being considered at all." He continued, "Even if the review starts today, a reshuffle takes at least two months. There is the process of receiving recommendations, personnel screening, and confirmation hearings, so there is absolutely no possibility of a reshuffle happening next month."
