[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] At the site of the logistics warehouse fire disaster in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, which claimed 38 lives, the police will conduct a detailed search on the 2nd to recover some of the unrecovered remains and personal belongings.
The Scientific Investigation Unit of the Southern Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency plans to deploy 13 forensic investigators and heavy equipment such as excavators to conduct a detailed search of the fire site starting from 9 a.m. on the same day.
This search will focus on finding some of the unrecovered remains and personal belongings of the victims from the fire debris in the basement of the building.
The police previously requested DNA analysis from the National Forensic Service and confirmed the identities of 8 out of the 9 unidentified victims among the 38 deceased. The identity of the remaining one is expected to be confirmed on the same day.
