Wildfire on a Hill in Hongcheon, Gangwon... Extinguished in About 1 Hour and 30 Minutes
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] On the 30th at around 3:17 PM, a fire broke out on a mountain in Cheongnyang-ri, Seoseok-myeon, Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon Province, burning 0.2 hectares (2,000㎡) of national forest and was extinguished after about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The forestry authorities deployed three firefighting helicopters, firefighters, and 118 officials, and completed extinguishing the main fire around 4:55 PM, currently putting out the remaining embers.
The forestry authorities believe the fire was caused by a visitor's negligence and are investigating the cause of the wildfire.
