[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Eunhee Cho) announced that all 66 public officials at grade 5 and above in the district have agreed to voluntarily donate their COVID-19 emergency disaster relief funds.
This donation was proposed by a public official during a COVID-19 disaster meeting with the intention of sharing the pain with citizens who are struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
All 66 district officials agreed to the voluntary donation and united in the decision to donate immediately upon the passage of the 2nd supplementary budget bill at the National Assembly plenary session on the 30th.
Following the final approval of the 2nd supplementary budget bill for the emergency disaster relief funds by the National Assembly, the district decided to proceed with the donation immediately. In the future, when the emergency disaster relief fund application begins in May, the district plans to discuss specific donation methods and recipients according to government guidelines and carry out the donations accordingly.
Meanwhile, Seocho-gu’s COVID-19 donation relay continues. Mayor Eunhee Cho has been returning 30% of her salary for four months from March to June to share the burden caused by the spread of COVID-19. The donation relay from residents and businesses to overcome COVID-19 is also ongoing. Anonymous residents have donated masks they made themselves for neighbors in need, and companies have sent quarantine supplies and snacks for hardworking medical staff.
