"Prevent a Second Icheon Logistics Fire"... Gyeonggi-do Promotes Dispatch of Safety Guardians
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is promoting a plan to dispatch 'Safety Keepers' to construction sites of a certain scale or larger in relation to the Icheon logistics warehouse fire. This is a measure to strengthen practical fire prevention management from the construction stage.
On the 30th, after receiving a report from Kim Dae-sun, Director of Safety Management Office of Gyeonggi Province, Governor Lee Jae-myung said, "The Icheon logistics warehouse fire accident appears to have occurred due to proceeding with construction while ignoring safety management guidelines," and added, "Please review the plan to dispatch resident monitors to manage construction sites at certain scales or times and link this to job creation projects."
He continued, "The duties of the Safety Keeper will cover safety facilities and construction preparation inspections," and added, "Please also consider including, as one of the building permit conditions, the requirement to respond to the attendance or investigation of the construction site by Safety Keepers dispatched by the permitting authority or Gyeonggi Province."
