POSCO Energy Delivers Gifts to Local Children's Centers Ahead of Children's Day
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] POSCO Energy surprised children exhausted from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) by transforming into a one-day Santa and gifted them a "Christmas in April."
On April 29, ahead of Children's Day, POSCO Energy visited a local children's center in Seo-gu, Incheon, where the LNG combined power plant is located, and delivered snacks and books as nourishment for both body and mind to the children. With online classes delaying school attendance, the employees personally dressed as Santa to bring unexpected joy, or "serendipity," to children receiving emergency care services at the local children's center.
On that day, POSCO Energy gifted about 30 boxes of character snacks loved by children, made by small and medium startup companies, as Christmas presents. Additionally, to commemorate Earth Day on April 22 and to raise awareness of the importance of nature among children, they supported 100 environmental protection books published by the National Institute of Ecology.
In particular, this Christmas gift holds special meaning as it was prepared through the participation of POSCO Energy employees. From March 27 to April 15, POSCO Energy conducted the "Closing the Distance of Hearts" campaign to promote internal communication. Through the company bulletin board, employees wrote encouraging messages such as "Cheer up" in comments to those needing support. The campaign was designed to maintain social distancing while narrowing the emotional distance through online communication.
During the campaign period, about 150 comments were posted, and POSCO Energy matched a certain amount of money for each comment to create the "With (Value & Together) Fund," which was used to prepare this Christmas gift.
