Seoul City Conditionally Approves Lifting of Jeogi Redevelopment Zone Restrictions
[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] Seoul City announced on the 30th that the Urban Planning Committee held on the 29th conditionally approved the proposal to cancel the Dongdaemun-gu Jegi Urban Maintenance-type Redevelopment Zone.
The Jegi area was designated as a maintenance zone on September 28, 2006, but since the project had not been carried out for a long time, a cancellation request was received from landowners on November 30, 2018.
Seoul City explained, "Even if the maintenance zone is canceled, we plan to focus on managing the area to minimize indiscriminate development and slumification."

After the zone cancellation, Seoul City plans to manage the area through urban regeneration revitalization projects according to the "Cheongnyangni General Market Area Urban Regeneration Activation Plan" announced on January 9, 2020.
