Jungnang-gu Approves 12.8 Billion KRW Supplementary Budget to Overcome COVID-19
Support Measures Residents Can Feel: Small Business Support for Overcoming COVID-19, Emergency Living Expenses for Those in Financial Difficulty, and Quarantine Efforts
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) announced that the 12.8 billion KRW scale “2020 First Supplementary Budget” aimed at overcoming COVID-19 was finalized following approval at the 239th extraordinary session held on the 29th.
This supplementary budget increased by 6.4 billion KRW (0.8%) compared to the original budget, focusing on overcoming the COVID-19 crisis by investing heavily in supporting small business owners, expanding emergency welfare recipients, stabilizing livelihoods, and revitalizing the local economy.
First, to support small business owners, the budget allocated ▲ 3.5 billion KRW for the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Fund ▲ 100 million KRW for traditional market support ▲ 400 million KRW for daycare center operation support ▲ approximately 800 million KRW for emergency welfare and living expenses support for residents facing difficulties due to COVID-19 and those in self-quarantine ▲ and approximately 600 million KRW for quarantine support.
Additionally, ▲ 500 million KRW for health and welfare sectors such as improving childcare teachers’ treatment, cancer management for low-income residents, and support for out-of-school youth ▲ 4.4 billion KRW for urban safety and environmental improvement sectors including sewer dredging, road pavement maintenance, and undergrounding of overhead distribution lines ▲ and 1.5 billion KRW for general administration sectors such as establishing a cultural foundation and building a homepage server were allocated to projects directly related to residents’ daily lives.

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “This supplementary budget was composed of essential projects such as support programs that residents struggling due to COVID-19 can feel directly and emergency welfare.” He added, “Although these are difficult times for everyone, we will review and actively promote ongoing projects so that we can gradually return to normal daily life.”
