[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] On the 29th, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office established a real-time command and support system with investigative authorities to actively respond to the fire accident at a logistics warehouse construction site in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.
A prosecution official stated, "Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol is scheduled to receive real-time situation reports," and added, "Song Kyung-ho, head of the Yeoju branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, who was on a business trip to Seoul, immediately returned to the site."
The Supreme Prosecutors' Office set up a communication system with the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office and its Yeoju branch, which are in charge of the investigation, centered on the criminal division. They are also sharing related information in real time by sending disaster manuals and investigation materials from similar large-scale fire incidents to the departments handling the case.
The Yeoju branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office plans to work closely with the police and fire authorities to ensure the smooth progress of victim rescue, autopsy of deceased bodies, and funeral procedures.
