The Gyeonggi Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters held a briefing at 4:30 PM at the logistics warehouse construction site in Moga-myeon, Icheon City, where the fire occurred, stating, "At the time of the fire, 78 workers from 9 companies were working here," and "So far, casualties have been counted as 6 dead, 1 seriously injured, and 6 lightly injured."
The fire authorities believe the fire spread after an explosion. A fire official said, "Considering that the deceased apparently did not evacuate at all, it is presumed that there was an unexplained explosion," adding, "The fire seems to have spread very quickly, and it is possible that work related to flammable materials such as urethane foam was being carried out."
