Dongshin University-Naju City Join Hands to Overcome COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Dongshin University is joining hands with Naju City, Jeollanam-do to unite efforts for the prevention and overcoming of COVID-19 in the local community.
On the 29th, a 'Delivery Ceremony of 200 Sets of Daily Necessities' was held in the annex room on the 2nd floor of Dongshin University Central Library, attended by Dongshin University President Choi Il and Naju City Vice Mayor Park Bongsun, among others.
The 200 sets of essential daily items, including toothbrushes and toothpaste, were prepared by Naju City for the prevention of COVID-19 among Dongshin University’s international students and other enrolled students.
Earlier on the 13th, the Naju City Innovation City Education Department delivered 1,000 masks, 70 hand sanitizers, and 70 cleansing agents to Dongshin University, and on the 2nd, the Naju City Safety and Disaster Department and Naju Police Station donated 1,000 masks for Dongshin University’s international students.
Dongshin University is actively participating in the movement to support local farms and small business owners promoted by Naju City.
Sixty faculty and staff members participated in Naju City’s ‘Love Strawberry Buying Campaign,’ purchasing 227 boxes of 1kg strawberries (worth approximately 2.27 million KRW) from three farms in the Naju area, and also joined the campaign to buy 1,000 roses to support local floriculture farms struggling due to COVID-19.
The faculty and staff mutual aid association also plans to participate in the campaign to purchase Naju Sarang gift certificates, which can be used in the Naju area.
On the 13th of last month, 37 Dongshin University faculty, staff, and student council executives participated in a ‘Blood Donation Campaign’ to help overcome the blood supply shortage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
