Guro-gu Delivers 'Memory Packages' to Dementia Patients Struggling to Go Out Due to COVID-19
Providing Spring Flower Pots, Exercise Equipment, and Health Booklets to Relieve Depression and Prevent Cognitive Decline... 'Non-Face-to-Face Cognitive Learning Program' Also Conducted Amid Prolonged Suspension of Dementia Safety Center Operations
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) delivered ‘Memory Packages’ to dementia patients who have found it difficult to go out due to COVID-19.
On the 29th, Guro-gu announced that it prepared and provided ‘Memory Packages that Bloom Memories’ to help elderly dementia patients, who have to spend long hours at home, relieve depression and prevent cognitive decline.
The ‘Memory Package’ was composed of ▲spring flower pots ▲stretching equipment ▲dementia prevention exercise posters ▲a cognitive health residential environment guidebook, allowing families to feel the spring and engage in cognitive stimulation activities together. It also included quarantine supplies such as masks, hand sanitizers, and wet wipes.
The items were delivered in a non-face-to-face manner to about 50 households of dementia patients in the area starting from the 20th of this month.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, Guro-gu suspended all regular programs at the Dementia Safety Center from the end of January. As the suspension has prolonged, the district is conducting non-face-to-face cognitive learning programs for center users.
Each week, cognitive program activity sheets are delivered for participants to engage in at home. When the activity sheets are submitted back to the center, customized feedback is provided.
